Hidden Tribes of Northern Phongsaly

After breakfast, we depart from Phongsaly and drive north toward the remote mountainous areas of the province. The road is rugged and winding, but offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Along the way, we visit Ban Ngai Neua, a traditional Tai Lue village known for its distinctive wooden houses and cultural heritage. We then continue to visit several Akha villages, including Pang Hok, where you can observe the unique customs and traditional lifestyle of the Akha people. We will also visit a village inhabited by both Haw (Hor) and Akha communities. In the evening, we arrive at Ban Tha village, where we will stay overnight with a local family and experience authentic village life.

Today we continue our journey further north toward Ou Neua. The drive takes us through some of the highest mountains in the region, offering spectacular views of valleys and remote settlements. Along the way, we stop at several hill tribe villages, including Yao (Mien) and Kher communities, where visitors can learn about their traditional lifestyles and cultural practices. We will also enjoy panoramic views over the Yot Ou area before continuing our journey to Ou Neua, where we spend the night at a local guesthouse.

After breakfast, we explore villages around Ou Neua, including communities of the Tai Neua ethnic group and other local tribes. Following the visits, we begin our return journey to Phongsaly, stopping along the way to visit additional villages and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of northern Laos. We arrive back in Phongsaly in the late afternoon.
