Welcome to Laos. Upon arrival, you will be warmly greeted by your guide at Lao Immigration before beginning your journey along one of Southeast Asia's most iconic waterways—the Mekong River. Board your private boat in Houay Xai and enjoy a leisurely cruise downstream. Along the way, stop at riverside villages to experience the simple yet fascinating daily life of local communities. A packed lunch will be served on board as you continue your journey, with another village visit en route. You will arrive in Pakbeng and check in at Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge or your preferred hotel, where you can relax and unwind in a peaceful riverside setting.

After breakfast, depart for Muang Xay, a scenic drive of approximately 3.5 hours (150 km), with stops along the way to visit local villages and observe rural life. Arriving in Muang Xay, you will notice its unique character shaped by regional influences and its strategic location. Enjoy lunch at Kanya Restaurant (set menu with water, tea, and coffee included). In the afternoon, visit Phou That Stupa, offering panoramic views over the town and surrounding mountains. Continue to Namkat Yorla Pa, a tranquil eco-resort nestled in lush forest near a protected area. After check-in, enjoy free time to relax or explore the resort's activities, including cycling, village visits, waterfall trekking, or simply unwinding by the pool or spa.

This morning, embark on a unique cultural journey into the Muang La region by 4WD. Visit a local market where villagers trade forest products, offering a glimpse into traditional livelihoods. Continue to remote ethnic villages, where you will learn about the customs, daily life, and animist beliefs of the Hmong community. A second visit to an Akha (Ikos) village provides further insight, where women often wear beautifully crafted traditional headdresses. Enjoy a packed lunch surrounded by scenic mountain landscapes. In the afternoon, visit the sacred Phachao Singkham Temple in Muang La before transferring to the train station. Board the train to Luang Prabang (D83: 17:18 – 18:07, second class). Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in at Sanctuary Luang Prabang or your preferred accommodation.

Today, discover the charm of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage town renowned for its timeless beauty. Begin with a private boat cruise along the Mekong River to the famous Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues. En route, visit Ban Muang Kham, known for its traditional riverweed (Khai) production. After exploring both the lower and upper caves, return to town while enjoying a set lunch served on board. In the afternoon, explore the town on foot, taking in its unique blend of Lao and colonial architecture. Highlights include the Royal Palace Museum, Haw Pha Bang Temple, Wat Mai, and the iconic Wat Xieng Thong. End your day by climbing Mount Phousi for a breathtaking sunset over the Mekong and surrounding mountains.

An enriching day awaits as you continue exploring Luang Prabang. Early risers may choose to participate in the traditional Alms Giving Ceremony, a deeply spiritual and cultural experience. After breakfast, travel to the stunning Kuang Si Waterfalls, where turquoise pools invite you for a refreshing swim. Explore the surrounding forest and visit the Free The Bears Rescue Centre. Return to town in the afternoon and enjoy leisure time at your own pace. Later, visit Ban Chan, a traditional pottery village, where you can observe local artisans at work and learn about centuries-old craftsmanship.

Transfer to the train station and board a comfortable high-speed train to Vang Vieng (C91: 12:52 – 13:44, first class). Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel for check-in. In the late afternoon, enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise along the Nam Song River, surrounded by dramatic limestone mountains. Dinner will be served at the hotel. In the evening, you may explore the lively night market or nearby shops at your leisure.

Today is dedicated to exploring the natural highlights of Vang Vieng. Visit Tham Chang Cave, a historically significant site offering impressive views and fascinating stories from the past. Continue to one of the famous Blue Lagoons 2, where you can relax, swim, or simply enjoy the natural surroundings. For those seeking more adventure, optional activities such as kayaking or cave exploration are available. The afternoon is free for relaxation or personal exploration.

After breakfast, depart for Vientiane, the charming capital of Laos (approximately 1 ½ hour). Upon arrival, begin a guided city tour including Wat Sisaket, known for its thousands of Buddha images, and Wat Phra Keo. Continue to Buddha Park, a unique sculpture park featuring fascinating religious statues. In the afternoon, visit Patuxai Monument, Laos' version of the Arc de Triomphe, and the iconic Pha That Luang, the country's most important national symbol. Transfer to Wattay International Airport for your departure flight.
