A packed lunch will be served on board as you continue your journey, with another village visit en route. You will arrive in Pakbeng and check in at Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge or your preferred hotel, where you can relax and unwind in a peaceful riverside setting.
After breakfast, depart for Muang Xay, a scenic drive of approximately 3.5 hours (150 km), with stops along the way to visit local villages and observe rural life. Arriving in Muang Xay, you will notice its unique character shaped by regional influences and its strategic location. Enjoy lunch at Kanya Restaurant (set menu with water, tea, and coffee included). In the afternoon, visit Phou That Stupa, offering panoramic views over the town and surrounding mountains. Continue to Namkat Yorla Pa, a tranquil eco-resort nestled in lush forest near a protected area. After check-in, enjoy free time to relax or explore the resort's activities, including cycling, village visits, waterfall trekking, or simply unwinding by the pool or spa.
This morning, embark on a unique cultural journey into the Muang La region by 4WD. Visit a local market where villagers trade forest products, offering a glimpse into traditional livelihoods. Continue to remote ethnic villages, where you will learn about the customs, daily life, and animist beliefs of the Hmong community. A second visit to an Akha (Ikos) village provides further insight, where women often wear beautifully crafted traditional headdresses. Enjoy a packed lunch surrounded by scenic mountain landscapes. In the afternoon, visit the sacred Phachao Singkham Temple in Muang La before transferring to the train station. Board the train to Luang Prabang (D83: 17:18 β 18:07, second class). Transfer to the train station and board a comfortable high-speed train to Vang Vieng (C91: 12:52 β 13:44, first class). Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel for check-in. For those seeking more adventure, optional activities such as kayaking or cave exploration are available. The afternoon is free for relaxation or personal exploration.
After breakfast, depart for Vientiane, the charming capital of Laos (approximately 1 Β½ hour). Upon arrival, begin a guided city tour including Wat Sisaket, known for its thousands of Buddha images, and Wat Phra Keo. Continue to Buddha Park, a unique sculpture park featuring fascinating religious statues. In the afternoon, visit Patuxai Monument, Laos' version of the Arc de Triomphe, and the iconic Pha That Luang, the country's most important national symbol. Transfer to Wattay International Airport for your departure flight.
